It seems the records in Ohio claim Michael Korn's wife was Susannah Baker, not Boucher. I had been in contact with members of the Korn family years ago to argue with them that my Susannah Boucher was the same person as Susannah Baker. Those members of the Korn family eventually agreed with me.
My evidence: 1/The Boucher book written in 1917 states that Susannah married a Mr. Korn. 2/The birth date on Susannah Baker's tombstone in Ohio is the same birth date as Susannah Boucher's birth date. 3/The records at New Bethel Zion Church in Greenwich Twn., Berks Co., PA have a child, Catarina Lisabetha b. 5/30/1785 - parents Michael Korn and Susanna. Sponsors - Nicholas Kutz and Anna Lisa Bauscher (Susannah Boucher's sister Anna Elizabeth).
There was an article years ago (that I can't put my hands on at the moment, but I know I have a copy somewhere in my messy filing) on Michael Korn and his brother being prominent citizens of Somerset Co., PA. In that article Michael's wife was named as Susannah Baker, who traveled from Berks Co., PA to Somerset Co. with Michael and her brothers, William and Jacob Baker. My Susannah traveled from Berks Co. to Somerset Co. in the company of her two brothers, William and Jacob Boucher.
I really believe the German pronunciation of Boucher and Baker could be so close as to make this difference possible and there is where the difficulty in identifying her last name started. Of course, most of these people could not read or write, so that added to the problem. I rest my case. [Ref: June Jones 12/9/2000]
