Research Notes:
Laura Brodbeck known as Emma or "Becky" became a Baptist missionary and spent nearly 40 years in the Orient, mostly in China. When the mission board retired her at age 65, she traveled fro two years, went on speaking tours for two years, got bored and joined the peace corps. She was 70 years old after finishing their training and when R. Sargent Shriver, Director of the Peace Corps swore her in himself, he said that she was the oldest person to ever volunteer for the Peace Corps. She enjoyed her two years in the Philippines so much that she signed up and served a second tour, where she was Director of Filmer Christian College. [Ref: Ray Brodbeck 7/29/2008]
