John Brodbeck Sr., Old Resident is Dead
John Brodbeck aged 73 years old, and respected citizen of Peoria, past away
at the house of his son, John Brodbeck at 8:45 last evening. He had been
failing for several years but was taken seriously ill two weeks ago. The
decedent was born in Rome on June 19, 1844. He was married at Rome in 1868 to
Mary Madden and after her death he was married a second time to Jennie Weidman
in 1880 in Peoria. He leaves five sons, Frank in Texas, William in South
America, Bert, Edward and John all of Peoria. He is survived by three sisters,
Mrs.Clauser and Mrs. Barbour both of Marseilles, Ill and Mrs. Laura Wood of
Iliff, Col., and four brothers James and George, also of Marseilles, Archie of
Avon, Ill and Charlie of Kinsley, Kan. In the past Forty years that Mr.
Brodbeck has been in the commission business here he has won the respect of
every one with whom he dealt and in his private life he has made warm friends
who will regret to learn of his death. For many years he has been prominent in
the Odd Fellows Lodge.
The body will be laid to rest in the La Salle Cemetery. The time of the
