Research Notes:
Obituary from the Sterling Journal-Advocate: C.E. "Tex" Monroe, 68 of 219 Taylor died Sunday, September 6, 1992, at Rose Medical Center in Denver. Visitation is from 11 A.M. Wednesday September 9 at Chaney-Walters Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. John Roberts is officiating the 10 A.M. service Thursday September 10, 1992 at the First Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery. BPO Elks Lodge No. 1336 will conduct grave site services.
Mr. Monroe was born May 8t, 1924 to Charles and Edna (Woods) Monroe. He attended Illif Schools through high school. After graduation, he farmed near Illif for several years then worked for cable Drilling, Inc. Mr. Monroe started Tex's Engineering Company in the early 1960's later known as Tex's Pumping and Roustabout Service.
He married Dorothy L. Clark Arnold in 1973. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Sterling BPO Elks Lodge No. 1336 and the Illif Lions Club.
He is survived by four daughters, Mary Ann Monroe of San Diego, CA; Barbara and Husband Emil Mateus of San Diego; Sheryl and husband Mike Ortiz of Littleton and Gayle and husband Ray Unrein of Sterling; one son, Jerry and wife Becky Arnold of Sterling; two brothers, Rex of Arvada and Tom of Greely; two sisters, Vera Bunning and Wilma Davis, both of Sterling; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy on February 7, 1992 and his sister Gladys Bunning. Memorial contributions: Elks Scholarship Fund in memory of Tex Monroe, c/o Elks Lodge. [Ref: Ray Brodbeck 7/29/2008]
