Obituary from the Sterling Journal-Advocate:
Funeral services for Wallace J. Bunning, 70, of 524 McKinley, will be
conducted at 10 A.M. Friday from Walters Funeral Home, the Reverend Maynard
Lund officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery.
Mr. Bunning died Monday, February 28, 1972 in the local hospital following a
short illness. He was born December 7, 1901 in Fairfield, Nebraska, the son of
William and Hilma (Peterson) Bunning. He came to Colorado from Nebraska in
1902 to farm in the Illif community. He married Gladys E. Monroe, March 26,
1932 in Sidney, Nebraska and the couple lived in Illif until retirement in
1962 when they moved to Sterling. Mr. Bunning was a member of the Protestant
faith.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Gladys Bunning of Sterling; a daughter,
Mrs. Marlene Stanley of Sterling; two brothers, Leonard Bunning of Sterling
and Frank Bunning of Commerce City; and a sister, Gladys J. Bunning of
Sterling; and three grandchildren. Walters funeral Home is in charge of the
