Research Notes:
Obituary from the Ottawa Free Trader: Bertha E. Parr, 79 Marseilles, died Tuesday in Community Hospital of Ottawa. The funeral was held at 2 P.M. Friday at Seals-Campbell Chapel in Marseilles with the Reverend Thomas Lowery officiating. Burial will be in the Nichol Cemetery in Marseilles. Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 P.M. Thursday.
Mrs. Parr was born November 1, 1901 in Marseilles to Jacob and Luella (Smith) Logan. She married Wilbur Parr in 1921. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and a 50 year member of the Ramona Chapter of Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by her two daughters, Mrs. George (Margaret) Hougas of Zephyrhills, Fla., and Mrs. Dave (Madge) Gillespie of Marseilles; seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Audrey Coble of Portland, Ore. She was preceded in death by one daughter, two brothers and four sisters. Memorials may be directed to the Marseilles Area Ambulance Service. [Ref: Ray Brodbeck 7/29/2008]
