Research Notes:
Obituary from the Sterling Journal-Advocate: Gladys E. Bunning 68, of 524 McKinley, died in the Sterling Hospital Tuesday January 28, 1975. Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. Thursday at the Baptist Church with burial in the Riverside Cemetery.
Mrs Bunning was born July 23, 1907 in Illif, a daughter of Charles and Edna (Wood) Monroe. She attended Illif schools, graduating from high school in 1926. On March 26, 1932, she married Wallace J. Bunning at Sidney, Nebraska. They farmed and lived in the Illif community until retiring in 1962, when they moved into Sterling. Mr. Bunning died in 1972.
Survivors include a daughter, Marlene Stanley, of Sterling; three brothers, Rex Monroe, Chicago, IL; Tom Monroe, Greely and C.E. Tex Monroe, Sterling; and two sisters, Vera Bunning, Illif and Wilma Davis, Sterling; and three grandchildren. The Walters-Chaney Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
