Obituary appeared in Sterling Journal Wood Funeral to be held here on Friday
Funeral services for Mrs. Laura Wood, 88 of near Illif will be held Friday Morning at 10:30 o'clock at the Methodist Church in Sterling. Mrs. Wood died this morning, January 22, 1941 at a local hospital. She was born in 1852 at Rome, Illinois, where she grew to womanhood. She was married in 1874 at Marseilles, Illinois to William Wood and they came to this country in 1887, settling in the Frenchman district east of Sterling. Mr. Wood died in 1890. In 1905 Mrs. Wood homesteaded near Illif and proved up on the land. Since 1908 she has been living with a daughter, Mrs. Edna Monroe, northeast of Illif.
Mrs. Wood is survived by the following children: E.V. Wood of Goebbel, Michigan; Mrs. Monroe and Mrs. Gladys Maddox of Illif; two brothers and one sister; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. The A.D. Jackson and Son Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements. [Ref: Ray Brodbeck 7/29/2008]
