Obituary:
Charles R. Monroe, 91 of Arvada died October 29th 1996 in Arvada. Memorial services were held today at the Methodist Church in Arvada.
Mr. Monroe was born February 17, 1905 to Chrles and Edna (woods) Monroe in Illif, he attended school in Illif and Sterling and graduated from Sterling High School. He attended the University of Colorado, where he received Bachelor and Masters degrees. He later received a PH.D. in History. He served as Dean of a junior college in Chicago and taught for many years in Chicago schools. After retiring, he and his wife moved to Arvada, where he lived until his death. He recently published a book on religions of the world.
He is survived by his wife Edith of Arvada; a daughter, Marilyn Monroe of Florida, a son Eugene and his wife Marilyn of Lyons, CO; two sisters, Vera Bunning and Wilma Davis both of Sterling, a brother of Greeley, numerous grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister Gladys Bunning and a brother, Tex Monroe. [Ref: Ray Brodbeck 7/29/2008]
