from fly leaf of an old book in the posession of the Cunningham (William
Todd) family, written May 8, 1886:
This book is the property of William Todd, born Feb 14, 1805. Now come and
go backward with me to the days of my grandfather whose name was John Todd.
Here I will remark that I recollect of asking Grandma Todd who was about 94
years of age, and whose maiden name was Gillespie, if she knew what kind of
man my great grandfather was. She said she was not right well acquainted with
him, but he was said to be a very nice man. He was Presbyterian and belonged
to Mr. Moorehead's Church in Ireland, was Elder and Clerk of the meeting. My
object in asking about my great-grandfather was to find out if there was any
profane swearers in the line of our lineage and there was none. Thus hath the
