James Sawhill & wife Mary, Hugh Brown & wife Jane, John Cunningham & wife
Martha) sold to James Todd, for $120 each, all their interest in 118 acres of
land on waters of Middle Wheeling Creek owned by William Todd at time of his

Ohio Co VA Deeds 29-497, dated 21 Nov 1846:
This Indenture made and entered into this twenty first day of November A.D.
1846 by and between Wallace J Todd of the County of St Louis and State of
Missouri party of the first part and John Todd and William Todd of Ohio County
of the State of Virginia parties of the second part, Witnesseth that the said
party of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and
seventy five dollars to him in hand paid by the said parties of the second
part, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged do by these presents
bargain, sell, and grant claim unto them the said John Todd and William Todd,
all his rights title and interest in and to a certain parcel of land and
premises known and designated as the Todd farm, situate on the waters of
Middle Wheeling Creek, in the County of Ohio in the state of Virginia, to
which I am or may be entitled to as one of the heirs of my deceased father
William Todd. To have and to hold unto them the said John and William Todd
and to their heirs and assigns all my said interest in and to said farm, and
the appurtenances thereof forever. And I the said Wallace J Todd do for
myself my heirs and assigns covenant to forever warrand the aforesaid interest
unto them the said John and William against all persons claiming or to claim
the same by through or under me, and none others, it being understood between
the parties hereto, that this is intended a quit claim deed only. In
testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal at St Louis,
Missouri, the day and year first above written. W. J. Todd.
State of Missouri, County of St. Louis SS. We Peter H Johnston and Diogenes
Witmore in the County aforesaid in the State of Missouri two Justices of the
peace as aforesaid do hereby certify that W.J. Todd a party to a certain deed
dated the twenty first day of November 1846 hereto annexed personally appeared
before us in our County aforesaid and acknowledged the same to be his act and
deed and desired us to certify his said acknowledgement to the Clerk of the
County Court of Ohio County in the State of Virginia in order that the same
deed may be recorded. Given under our hands and seals the day and year
aforesaid. Peter W. Johnston, Justice of the Peace. Diogenes Wetmore,
Justice of the Peace.
State of Missouri, County of St Louis SS. I the undersigned Stephen D Barlow
Clerk of the St. Louis County Court do certify that Peter W Johnston and
Diogenes Wetmore whose names are subscribed to the foregoing certificate of
acknowledgement are each on the day of the date thereof and still are active
Justies of the Peace duly commissioned and qualified in that their signatures
thereunto are genuine, and that to all such their official acts full faith and
credit ought to be given. In Testimony whereof I hereunto set my hand and
affixed seal the date last above written. S. D. Barlow, Clerk of St Louis
County Court.
Virginia. Be it remembered that on the 14th day of July 1847 the foregoing
deed was presented to me John McColluch Clerk of the County Court in my office
