----------
West Alexander mourns the loss of one of its most prominent citizens in E.
Thomas Moore, who passed away yesterday morning at 1:56 o'clock at his late
home on Main Street, West Alexander. Death was due to progressive anaemia.
Mr. Moore was born January 10, 1856, on the Moore farm, three miles north
of West Alexander. He was a son of William and Margaret Elizabeth Reed Moore,
and spent the early part of his life on the farm. On December 3, 1890, he
married Miss Emma Todd and shortly afterward removed to West Alexander, where
he engaged in the mercantile bunsiness in what is known as the corner store,
now owned by H. E. Blayney. At the time he was associated with his brother,
F. W. Moore, and later with D. W. Rael, now of Claysville. He was a
travelling salesman for the Adriance-Platte company and also the Deering
Harvester company about twelve years. A few years later he purchased the
Hiram Montgomery grocery and engaged in that business til the last few months,
when failing health caused him to relinquish the business. He was a devout
Presbyterian all his life.
He is survived by his widow and two sons, William T., of Pittsburgh, and
Frank L, of the United States navy; one daughter, Dorothy Byers, at home, and
one brother, F. W. Moore, of West Alexander. Funeral services will be held at
his late home tomorrow at 2 p.m. Interment at West Alexander cemetery.
