though he often appears with the title "Count of Luxemburg", there does not seem to be any record which would justify this title [Ref: HenryII frede000 4/5/2007]

claim that Frederick was count in Moselgau is not directly documented, but is based on fact that his son Henri was count there before the death of his uncle of the same name [Ref: HenryII frede000 4/5/2007]

Frederick I's mother Medwig was a Saxon lady of unknown parentage. He was descended from Cunegonde through his father Siegfrid, count in the Moselgau & lord of Luxemburg, but not also through his mother as far as can be ascertained (or is at all likely for that matter) [Ref: Peter Stewart SGM 6/24/2001-192124]
