abt 1050: along with his brother Robert were immortalized by their decision to found a monastery; the site chosen being unsuitable, they followed the advice of their uncle and decided to refound the ancient abbey of Saint-Evroul. Jan 1091: in Normandy, assisting Robert de Courcy in a dispute with Robert de Belleme, son of Mabel. This action provoked conflict with Roubert Curthose, duke of Normandy, but matters were resolved by the appearance of William II in Normandy [Ref: Keats-Rohan DP p263]
