called after that river, though later called Bellencombre (Seine-Inferieure)

has been stated that charter evidence names William's father as Rodulf

Charter evidence that Ralph's mother was named Emma was dismissed by
Loyd, for whom Emma was the second wife married after the death of
Beatrice before 1059. But William de Warenne was given Bellencombre in or
shortly after 1054, and land near Arques abt 1055, and fought at Hastings
in 1066, he could not have been the son of a woman not married until abt
