Honor of Pevency was also known as Honor of Laigle, having been held by that family, descended from Engenulf de Laigle, slain at Hastings. [Ref: CP XII/1 p498(g)]

1187: answered for scutage on the honour of Pevensey [Ref: Sanders Baronies p136]

1204: lands were seized because of his opposition to King John, but seems to have regained honour of Pevensey between 1212 and Oct 1216 [Ref: Sanders Baronies p137]

1208-16: made a grant to Bayham abbey, Sussex, and mentions his father Richard. His brother Richard is both mentioned in the document and witnessed it [Ref: Sanders Baronies p137(1)]

during Gilbert's absense from England, his lands were in the care of the Earl of Arundel, the Earl of Chester, and Earl Warenne [Ref: Sanders Baronies p137(2)]

on his death in 1231, Pevensey fell to the crown [Ref: Sanders Baronies p137]
