1162: granted a rent in Feltwell to Beaubec abbey, with the assent of his wife Ermentrude and sons Gerard, Geoffrey, Hugh, and Richard [Ref: Keats-Rohan DD p1123]

Orderic Vitalis (vi, 192) described how Hugh de Gournay (son of Gerard de Gournay and Edith de Warenne) rebelled against Henry I and gave the castle of Le Plessis to his 'nepos' Hugh Talbot. The precise relationship is unclear, but the name of Hugh's son Gerard confirms the probability that Hugh and Gerard de Gournay had a common ancestor [Ref: Keats-Rohan DD p1123]
