1221: admitted to the paternal lands which, but for the treason of his father and eldest brother, might have become the inheritance of his niece Margaret, his elder brother's daughter and heiress. It may be that the Regency (for King Henry III) regarded the Crown as having the right of refusal to restore Sayer de Qu9incey's title of Earl and his lands to the direct line on account of his and his eldest son's persistent rebellion [Ref: Roth RobertDeQuincy p223]

charged 100 pounds relief. If this was for Barony of Leicester, then his inheritance was treated as a full barony; it might have been for the earldom of Winchester, which he did not use until after his mother's death [Ref: Sanders Baronies p61(3)]

1254: granted to Edmund de Lacy the two west Yorkshire manors of Kippax ans Scholes in exchange for a gift for life of the manors of Kneesal (Notts) and Wadenhow (Northants), together with fifteen pounds worth of land in Elmsall, beside South Kirkby; thus Edmund Lacy (in 1254 the senior representative of the Lacys of Pontefract) brought back under direct control an estate that his predecessors had once regarded as a valuable demesne centre [Ref: Stringer AlanGalloway p50]
