probably came to England with Canute 1015; was employed by Hardecanute to ravage co Worcester; slew his wife's uncle, Eadwulf, and became Earl of the whole of Northumbria [Ref: Watney WALLOP #304]

1043: accompanied Eadward the Confessor to Winchester [Ref: Watney WALLOP #304]

1054: invaded Scotland against Macbeth, and established Malcolm, son of Duncan, as King of Cumbria [Ref: Watney WALLOP #304]

It is most probable that when Earl Siward came to England in the service of King Cnut the Great, he came from a family which had only recently received political power and royal favor in Denmark, and had attached their own genealogy to a myth regarding the parentage of pseudo-historical Norwegian rulers and heroes.
