Apr 4 1327: made joint custodian of the deposed King Edward II, whom he courteously received the next day at Berkeley Castle, but being commanded to deliver over to the government thereof, to his fellow custodians he left there to go to Bradlet, "with heavy cheer perceiving what violence was intended." As an accessory to the murder of the deposed king, he was tried by a Jury of 12 Knights in 4 Edward III, but was acquitted. [Ref: Holloway WENTWORTH p3]
