brother of Pain Peverel, one of the king's familiares, who was granted the fief of Bourn c1122; Pain d.s.p c1130-3 [Ref: Sanders Baronies p19]

normally occurs as Pagan (Payn) but a charter of his son William Peverel of Bourn for Throncy abbey gave him the baptismal name Robert [WTM- other sources, e.g. Sanders, have Payn as a separate person; unclear how the info in DP and DD should be split if this is so] [Ref: Keats-Rohan DD p1067]

Payn Peverel was the same as Robert Peverel, and therefore father of his successors and not uncle [Ref: Keats-Rohan Baronies++ p2]

companion of Robert Curthose on the First Crusade [Ref: Keats-Rohan DD p1067]

abt 1122: given the honor of Bourn in Cambridgeshire, forfeited by the heir of Picot of Cambridge, by Henry I [Ref: Keats-Rohan DD p1067]
