appears in charters temp David I as "Ed [Edelrad?] Comes" or "Head, Comes", and according to some accounts Earl of Fife [Ref: CP V p372]

possibly Earl of Forthreve only [Ref: CP V p372]

The "Ed Comes" was contemporary with Earl Beth (witness to the charter of Scone in 1115 as "Beth, Comes") and Earl Constantine his successor [Ref: CP V p372]
