hundred and fifteen between Hans Graf of Strossburg in the county of Chester
husbandman and Susana his wife of the one part and Gerhard Rittinghuysen of
Krishem in the Germantownship and County of Phil likewise husbandman of the
other part, Witnesseth that the said Hans Graf and Susana his wife for and in
consideration for the sum of seventy pounds lawful silver money of
Pennsylvania to them at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents
will and truly paid by the said Gerhard Rittinghuysen the receipt whereof they
do hereby acknowledge and thereof and every part thereof do fully acquit and
discharge the said Gerhard Rittinghuysen his heirs executors and
administrators and assigns forever, have given, granted, bargained, sold,
aliened, enfeoffed and confirmed and by these presents do give grant bargain
sell alien enfeoff and confirm unto the said Gerhard Rittinghuysen his heirs
and assigns a certain tract of land situate lying and being at Krisheim in the
Township and county of Philadelphia aforesaid Beginning at a white oak
sappling standing in the Plymouth Road and dividing this said tract from Henry
Lerentze's Land thence northwest by said road forty three perches and twelve
foot to another corner white oak sapling thence southwest by Cornelis Siverts
land seventy four perches to a cornerstone, thence North West again by the
said Siverts Land forty three perches to another Cornerstone, Thence southwest

singular the said three parcels of land unto him the said Hans Graf his heirs
and assigns forever they yielding and paying such yearly rents as in the
aforesaid deeds of sale and convey once are expressed and reserved together
with all the houses buildings orchards gardens ways waste passages soil
meadows pastures marshes waters watercourses woods underwoods mines minerals
quarries fishings fowlings hawkings huntings commodities priviledges
improvements hereditaments and appurtenances whatsoever to the herein
bargained one hundred seventy five acres of land or any part thereof belonging
or in anywise appertaining and the reversions remainders rents issues and
profits there of as also all the estate right title interest use possession
property claim and demand whatsoever which they the said Hans Graf and Susana
his wife or either of them now both or hereafter might or should have of in
and to the said Tract of Land or any part or parcel thereof and all deed
grants surveys and other evidences and writings concerning the same to have
and to hold the said one hundred and seventy five acres of Land (be it more or
less) and all and singular the other Hereditaments and premises hereby granted
or intended to be granted with the appurtenances unto the said Gerhard
Rittinghuysen his heirs and assigns to the only proper use and behoof of him
the said Gerhard Rittinghuysen his heirs and assigns forever at and under the
several yearly rents mentioned in the above said deeds of conveyance from
thenceforth to become due and payable for the hereby bargained land and
premises and the said Hans Grof and Susana his wife and the heirs of the said
Hans Grof the said one hundred and seventy five acres of land (more or less)
with its appurtenances unto the said Gerhard Rittinghuysen his heirs and

assigns forever according to the form and effect of the within written
indenture in the presence of Isaac Deoves, Isaac Kasdorp, John Haegher.

Before me the subscriber one of the Justices etc personally appeared
Catharine Wistar of the city of Philadelphia said Widow aged seventy eight
years and upwards and upon her soleman affirmation did testify and declare
that she verily believes the within written indentures was duly and legally
executed by Hans Groff and Susanna his wife and for reasons of such Belief she
saith that Dirk Jansen (more commonly called Johnson) was her father and that
Francis Daniel Pastorius was a shool master in Germantown to whom this
affirmant went to school, That she has often seen them both write and has of
her father's handwriting now in her possession with which she has compared his
signature to the within deed and finds them as well from her memory as by
comparison to agree wherefore she firmly believes their names witness
subscribed to be their proper handwriting. In witness whereof and in order

South by the land of William Hughs three hundred and eighteen perches to a

thereunto had may fully appear, Which said Tract of Land and Lands the late
William Penn Esquire Proprietor and Governor in Chief of the said Province by

Commissioner of Property bearing date the Sixteenth day of June in the Year of

assigns according to the bounds above mentioned as by the said Patent Recorded

appear, and Whereas the said Jacob Sowder being so seized of the premises as
aforesaid made his last Will and Testament and in High Dutch[sic] and thereby
among other things did order and appoint that the aforesaid three hundred
acres of land and Plantation whereupon he then dwelled should be valued and
two hundred and eighty pounds and that his Two Daughters viz Mary Sowder now
the wife of the said John Sowder and the said Susanna Sowder now the wife of
the said Martin Frantz should each of them have one hundred pounds of their
fathers Estate and his wife Anne Sowder should have eighty pounds and the

same land to the Chief Lord or Lords of the Fee thereof of Right Accustomed,
And the said Hans Groff and his heirs the said two hundred Acres of land
hereditaments and Premises hereby Granted or mentioned so to be and every part
thereof with the Appurtenances unto the said Mark Groff his heirs and Assigns
against the said Hans Groff and Susanna his Wife and their heirs and against
all and every other Person and Persons whatsoever claiming or to claim by from
or under him them or any of them shall and will warrant and forever defend by
these presents, And the said Hans Groff for himself and the said Susanna his
Wife and for his heirs Executors and Administrators doth Covenant Promise and
Grant to and with the said Mark Groff his heirs and assigns by these presents
that the said Hans Groff and Susanna his Wife and their heirs and all and
every other Person and Persons whomsoever Claiming or that shall or may at any
time or times hereafter to have or Claim any Estate right title or Interest of
in or to the said two hundred Acres of Land and Premises hereby Granted or any
Part thereof by from or under him them or any of them shall and will from time
to time and at all times hereafter at the Reasonable Request Costs and Charges
in the law of the said Mark Groff his heirs and Assigns make Execute and
acknowledge or cause to be all and every such further and other reasonable act
and acts deed and deeds devise and devises in the law whatsoever for the
further and better assurance and confirmation of the said two hundred acres of
land and Premises hereby granted and every part thereof with the Appurtenances
unto the said Mark Groff his heirs and assigns as for him or them or by his or
their Councel learned in the Law shall or reasonably devise advise or require.

Certain quantity or tract of Land Situate on a branch of Conastoga Creek fr

Indenture witnesseth that the said Hans Graff for and in Consideration of the

Leacock in the county of Lancaster and province of Pennsylvania yeoman of the
one part and Patrick Carrigan of the same township in the said county and
province yeoman of the other part, Whereas in and by a certain indenture of
release bearing date the eighth day of June one thousand seven hundred and
forty three made between Hans Graff of Earltown in the said county and
province yeoman and Susannah his wife of the one part and the said Nicholas
Yoner of the other part the said Hans Graff and Susannah his wife for the
consideration therein mentioned did grant release and confirm unto the said
Nicholas Yoner in his actual possession then being by virtue of a bargain and
sale to him thereof made for one whole year by indenture bearing date the day
next before the day of the date threreof and by force of the statute for
transferring uses into possession and to his heirs and assigns all that tract
or parcel of land situate lying and being in the said township of Leacock in
the county aforesaid beginning at a post at corner of Jonas Yoner and

thousand seven hundred and thirty seven granted to Hans Graffe of the county
of Lancaster deceased a certain tract of fourteen hundred and nineteen acres

hold to him his heirs and assigns forever as by the said patent recorded in
the office for recording of deeds for the city and county of Philadelphia in
Book A, Volume 8 page 292 the nineteenth of November following may more at
large appear, And Whereas the said Hans Graffe by his last will and testament
bearing date the eighth day of November in the year of our Lord 1738 duly
proved the 7th May 1746 and remaining in the registers office at Lancaster
devised all his messuages lands tenements and hereditaments whatsoever unto
the said Susanna Graffe then wife of the said Hans Graffe and to Peter Graffe
Samuel Graffe Mark Graffe Daniel Graffe David Graffe Ann Graffe Fronika Graffe
and Mary Graffe above named children of the said Hans Graffe and whereas the
said Hans Graffe in his life time after the making of his said will conveyed
to his said sons Peter Samuel Mark and Daniel their respective shares of the
said fourteen hundred and nineteen acres of land and also advanced to his
daughters Anna wife of Peter Good and Mary then wife of John Kry since
deceased their respective shares of his said estate reserving in his own hands
the plantation on which he lived with the quantity of five hundred acres of
land to be divided amongst his sons Hans Graffe and David Graffe and his
daughter Fronika now wife of Henry Landus in manner following viz, the
plantation on which he lived with two hundred acres of land to David Graffe,
two hundred acres adjoining it to Hans Graffe, and the remaining one hundred

life without altering the said will abovementioned and trusting to his said
widow and children to join in a release and conveyance of the lands above to
his said sons Hans and David and his daughter Fronika in manner above by him

I Hans Graeff of Earltown in the County of Lancaster and Province of
Pennsylvania Yeoman being in good health of body and of sound and well
dispposing mind and memory thanks be humbly offered to God for the same, and
also there his mercies and favors and being mindful of the mortality of my
body do make and ordain this my last will and testament in the manner and form
following that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my
soul into the hands of Almighty God that gives it and for my Body I Recommend
it to the Earth to be buried in a Christian like and decent manner at the
discretion of my Executor nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I
shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God and as touching such
worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life I give
devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form. (Imprimis)
It is my will and I do order that in the first place all my just debts and
funeral charges be paid and satisfied. (Item) I give and bequeath unto my
beloved son Jacob Graeff the sum of thirty pounds of lawfu money of the said

to their heirs and assigns forever, all my messuage lands tenements and

Susanna Executrix of this my last will and testament and I request my
affectinate brother Martin Graeff of the said Township and my well beloved son
Mark Graeff and Daniel Graeff to advise and assist my said Executrix in the
performance of this my last will and testament, and I do hereby utterly
disallow revoke and disannul all and every other former testaments wills
legacies and executors by me in any way before this time named willed and
bequeathed and ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will
