Patent, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to Henry Musser:
To all to whom these presents shall come, Greeting: Know ye, that in
consideration of the monies paid by Philip Stauffer and Martin Brownkirk unto
the late Proprietaries at the granting of the Warrant hereinafter mentioned &
of the sum of Sixty Nine pounds, Seventeen shillings & Nine pence, lawful
money now paid by Henry Musser unto the Rec'r Gen'ls Office of this
Commonwealth, there is granted by the said Commonwealth unto the said Henry
Musser, a certain tract of land called "Hopewell" situate in Brecknock
Township, Lancaster County, Beginning at a stone, thence by land of Mathias
Musselman, North seven degrees east, one hundred and sixteen perches to a
stone, thence by land late of John Carpenter, North eighty three degrees and a
fourth west, forty one perches and three fourths to a Gum, thence by land of
Mathias Musselman, South eighty five degrees and a half west, seventy two
perches to a stone, thence by land late of Philip Stover, South four degrees
east forty two perches and a half to a stone, south eighty six degrees west,
forty six perches to a post, thence by land of Martin Brownkirk, South three
degrees and three fourths east, seventy four perches to a post, South eighty
six degrees west, twenty perches to a post, South four degrees east, seventy

Warrants, and dated 28th October 1746 unto the said Philip Stauffer, and other
27th February 1759 granted to said Martin Brownkirk, by virtue of divers
conveyances and assurances in the law became vested in the said Henry Musser,
with the appurtenances, to Have and to Hold the said Tract of parcel of land
with the Appurtenances, unto the said Henry Musser and his heirs, to the use
of him the said Henry Musser his heirs and assigns forever, free and clear of
all Restrictions and Reservations as to Mines, Royalties, Quit-Rents or
otherwise, excepting and reserving only the fifth part of all Gold and Silver
Ore for the use of this Commonwealth, to be delivered at the Pitt's mouth,
clear of all charges.
In witness whereof Thomas Mifflin, Governor of the said Commonwealth, hath
hereunto set his hand, and caused the State Seal to be hereunto affixed, the
Sixth Day of June, in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and

Will of Henry Musser:
In the name of God, Amen. I Henry Mosser, of Brecknock Township in the
County of Lancaster, being weak of body but, God be thanked, of good memory
and understanding, I therefore concluded to make my last will and testament in
manner following:
First, it is my will that my beloved wife, Frony, shall have a right in this
house and kitchen and in the stable, as if Henry Mosser was yet alive, and the
said Frony shall also have a right to the garret of the house wherein she
lives, and in the spring house she has a right to do what she pleases.
Item. It is my will that my wife Frony shall have two bed steads with
whatsoever belongs to them, also the kitchen dresser with all that may be
thereon and therein, also the clothes press in the room and whatever is in the
same suitably for her use, and further it is my will that my wife Frony shall
have the stove and house clock, one spinning wheel, a reel, a table, three
chairs, an iron kettle, two iron pots, two copper kettles, two tin buckets, a
wooden pail, two tubs, a pair of steel yards and the books which are in the
house, and so much of the garden as she always had for her use.
And it is my will that my son Christian shall have all my land to him and
his heirs, and he shall choose two men, and the executors shall choose two
men, and it is my will that these men shall choose the fifth man, and to be
all disinterested men to value my land. And my son Christian shall give unto
my wife Frony yearly and every year, twenty five bushels of wheat or speltz
grains, ten bushels of rye, six bushels of Indian corn, six bushels of
buckwheat, and carry the same to the mill and home again to her house. Also
ten bushels of potatoes and one hog of one hundred and fifty pounds with the
lard, fifty pounds of beef, ten pounds of tallow, thirty pounds of swingled
flax and the meat which is now in my house. My wife shall take the same for
her own use, and my wife shall choose two of my cows which she pleases, and my
son Christian shall ffed them with good fother, and allow them to go with his
cows to the somer. And further it is my will that my son Christian shall
furnish my wife with as much salt as she has occasion for, and deliver
firewood to her house cut small, allow her the one third part of the fruit,
and one barrel of cyder, and if my wife should be sick, then my son Christian
shall attend her as it is right and becoming a Christian. And my wife shall
have the grain which now is in my house and barn as before for her own use,
and the grain in the field my son Christian must divide among the heirs, that
is, the third bushel of it.
Further it is my will that my youngest daughter Esther shall have a right to
live in the house as long as she remains a single woman, and she shall have
the sum of twenty five pounds aforehand. And my son John shall have twenty
pounds out of the last bonds when they are paid. And further it is my will
that all my heirs shall yearly suffer in the sum which my son Christian has to
give to his mother in goods. Furhter it is my will that my wife Frony shall
have fifty pounds immediately after my decease. Further it is my will that my
property shall after my decease be made into money, and then divided by my
executors among my heirs, and whatsoever my wife may leave after her decease,
shall likewise be divided, and lastly I nominate my son Peter Mosser and
Abraham Guth executors of this my last will and testament. And I acknowledge
and declare this as and for my will and testament.

deceased, being written in the German language and therefore could not be
recorded, but the probat endorsed thereon is as follows, to wit,
Lancaster County SS. On the 16th day of March anno domini 1805 Before me the
Subscriber personally appeared John Burkholder and Christian Musselman, the
two subscribing witnesses to the within will, who upon their solemn
affirmations according to law did severally declare and say that they were
present and saw and heard Henry Musser the testator therein named sign seal
publish pronounce and declare the within instrument in writing as and for his
last will and testament and that at the doing thereof he was of sound and well
disposing mind memory and understanding according to the best of their
knowledge observation and belief. G Ross, Regr.
Be it Remembered that on the 16th day of March anno domini 1805 the last
will and testament of Henry Mosser late of Brecknock township in the County of
Lancaster and State of Pennsylvania deceased was proved in due form of law and
letters testamentary thereon where granted to Peter Mosser and Abraham Guth,
the executors therein named, they having first been duly qualified well and
truly to administer the estate of the said deceased, especially to exhibit a
true and perfect inventory thereof into the Registers Office at Lancaster
within one month, and to render a true and just account of their executorship
on said estate in one year from this date or when thereto lawfully required.
