This Indenture made twentieth day of March in the Year of our Lord One
thousand Seven hundred and Seventy two between Henry Landes of the Township of
Manheim in the County of Lancaster and province of Pennsylvania Yeoman of the
one part and Jacob Alter of the Township of Warsick in the County and province
Aforesaid Yeoman of the other part, Whereas the Honorable the proprietars of
the said province in and by their patent or Grant dated the Twenty fourth Day
of July in the Year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and forty one
Recorded at Philadelphia in patent Book A vol 9 page 410 etc for the
Considerations therein mentioned did grant and Convey unto a Certain Henry
Landus the Father of the said Henry Landes party hereto a certain tract of
land Situate on a Branch of Conestoga Creek in the Township of Warwick and
County Aforesaid Containing one hundred and eighty four Acres and an half an
Acre and the Usual Allowance of Six Acres [sic] per cent for Roads and
Highways and Whereas the said Henry Landus, the Father, on his life time and
Maria his wife by their Indenture dated the first day of March in the Year of

the said Frena being so seized and entitled of in and to one Seventh part of
the same Premises with the appurtenances lately died without Issue whereby her
part or Share of and in the said Piece or Parcel of Land and Premises with the
appurtenances descended and came to the said Henry Landis Party hereto as her
only Brother and Heir at Law, Now this Indenture Witnesseth that the said
Henry Landis from a Desire of confirming the Share of the said Freena of and
in the Premises unto the said John Shrantz in Fee and in Consideration of the
Sum of Fifty Pounds lawful Money of Pennsylvania to him in hand well and truly
paid by the said John Shrantz at and before the execution hereof the Receipt
whereof he doth hereby acknowledge, Hath granted bargained sold aliened

the proportionable part of the Yearly Quit Rent due and to become due for the

This Indenture made the twenty eighth day of February A.Domini one thousand
seven hundred and eighty two Between Henry Landis of Lampiter Township in the
County of Lancaster and State of Pennsylvania yeoman and Mary his wife of the
one part and John Musser and Abraham Witmer of the same County of the other
part, Witnesseth that the said Henry Landis and Mary his wife for and in
consideration of the sum of Two thousand four hundred pounds specie to them or
one of them in hand well and truly paid by the said John Musser and Abraham
Witmer at and before the sealing delivery hereof (the receipt and payment
whereof is hereby acknowledge) have and each of them hath granted bargained
sold aliened enfeoffed released and confirmed and by these presents do and

of beginning, Containing one hundred and eighty three acres of land and the
usual allowance of six acres per cent for roads etc, it being the same tract
of land which the Honorable proprietaries of Pennsylvania by their patent
dated eighteenth day of November A.Dom one thousand seven hundred and sixty
two did grant and confirm unto Jacob Brubacher his heirs and assigns forever
as by the said patent recorded in the office for Recording of deeds for the
City and County of Philadelphia in Patent Book AA, Vol 4th page 99 etc may
more fully appear, And the said Jacob Brubacher being so seized and possessed
of the said Tract of land died first making his last will and testament in
writing and in and thereby did impower his executors Peter Brubacher Henry
Mosser Jacob Mayer and John Wanner to sell and convey his said lands whereupon
the said executors in and by their certain indenture dated the sixteenth day
of May A.Dom one thousand seven hundred and seventy four did grant and confirm
the same unto Abraham Landis and the said Henry Landis (party hereto) and to
their heirs and assigns forever, and the said Abraham Landis and Mary his wife
by their indenture dated the fourth day of March A.Domi one thousand seven
hundred and seventy five did grant and convey all their right and title of in
and to the said tract of land unto the said Henry Landis (party hereto) and to
his heirs and assigns forever so that the whole of the said tract was thereby
vested in the said Henry Landis as by the said Last Will and Testament and
above recited indentures may more fully and at large appear reference
thereunto being had, Together with all and singular the houses, outhouses,
edifices and buildings on the same erected and being, ways, waters, water
courses, woods, trees, fences, lights, easements, privileges advantages,
hereditaments and appurtenances whatsoever to the same belonging or in any
wise appertaining and the reversion and reversions remainder and remainders,
rents, issues, and profits thereof and all the estate right title interest use
trust, property possession claim and demand whatsoever of him the sane Henry
Landis and Mary his wife and their heirs of in and to the same or any part
thereof, To Have and to hold the said above mentioned and described tract of
one hundred and eighty three acres of land and allowance hereditaments and
premises thereby granted and released (or meant mentioned or intended so to
be) with the appurtenances unto the said John Musser and Abraham Witmer their
heirs and assigns to the only proper use benefit and behoof of the said John
Musser and Abraham Witmer their heirs and assigns forever as tennants in
common and not as joint tennants (that is to say two undivided third parts
thereof unto the use and behoof of the said John Musser his heirs and assigns
forever as tennant or tennants in common with him the said Abraham Witmer his
heirs and assigns, And one undivided third part thereof to the use and behooff
of the said Abraham Witmer his heirs and assigns forever as tenant or tennants
in common with him the said John Musser his heirs and assigns), Subject to the
payment of the yearly quit rents due and to be come due for the same to the
Chief Lord or Lords of the Fee thereof, And the said Henry Landis doth hereby
covenant and grant for himself his heirs exors and administrators to and with
the said John Musser and Abraham Witmer their heirs and assigns that he the
said Henry Landis and his heirs executors and administrators the said above
mentioned tract of land and premises hereby granted and released (or mentioned
or intended so to be) with the appurtenances unto the said John Musser and
Abraham Witmer their heirs and assigns against him the said Henry Landis and
Mary his wife and his heirs and against all and every other person or persons
lawfully claiming or to claim the same or any part thereof by from or him them
or any of them or br from or under Ann the widow of Jacob Brubacher deceased
for or on account of her Dower or thirds of in and to said lands or for or on
account of the several bequests to her made in and by the will of said
deceased or by from or under Abraham Landis and his heirs shall and will
warrant and forever defend by these presents, And further shall and will from
time to time and at all times hereafter upon the reasonable request at at the
proper costs and charges in the law of the said John Musser and Abraham Witmer
their heirs and assigns make do execute acknowledge and deliver or cause and
procure to be made done executed acknowledged and delivered all and every such
further and other lawful and reasonable act and acts deed and deeds
conveyances and assurances in the law whatsoever for the further better and
more perfect granting and confirming the said above mentioned tract of land
and premises hereby granted with the appurtenances unto the said John Musser
and Abraham Witmer their heirs and assigns forever as by them or their Council
learned in the law shall be advised devised and required. In Witness whereof

Received on the day of the date of the above indenture of the above named
John Musser and Abraham Witmer the sum of Two thousand four hundred pounds
specie in full for the consideration money above mentioned. Henrich Landis.
Lancaster County SS. The first day of March A.Dom 1782 before me the
subscriber one of the Justices of the Court of Common Pleas in and for the
County of Lancaster appeared the within named Henry Landis and Mary his wife
and acknowledged the within indenture to be their act and deed and desired
that the same may be recorded as such according to law, the said Mary thereto
voluntarily consenting she being of full age and by me privately examined.
