Research Notes:
related to Gozelo I 3:3, which would have led to problems during reign of Henry II. Konrad II, whose reign began in 1024, changed the policy. Indications are that Ita married Gonzelo, then it was annulled, then she remarried Radbot of Habsburg, then the annullment was reversed. The name Ita occurs among Gonzelo's grandchildren, indicating a link. [Ref: Jackman GermanCounties]

her parentage has excited much speculation. She was possibly a daughter of Frederick I, Duke of Upper Lorraine, by Beatrix, daughter of Hugh, Duke of the Franks (d.956) by his second wife Eadhild of England. The current view seems to be that Ita was daughter of Adalbert, Count of Metz (d.1033, uncle of the Emperor Konrad II) by Judith (alreadyu mother of Cuno of Rheinfelden), daughter of Kuno of Ohningen by Richlint.
