Sire of De Ferrers and Chambris in Normandy, came with William the Conqueror, obtained grant of Tatbury Castle, Co Stafford, and large possessions in other counties, including 114 manors in Derbyshire [Ref: Holloway WENTWORTH p10]

Domesday Commissioner, and held at the date of the Survey some 210 lordships or manors, more than half of which were in co. Derby [Ref: CP IV p190]
