will dated Apr 1412, pro Oct 26 1412, inqpm 1413#15 [Ref: Weis AR7 #16A]
will pr 26 Oct 1412 in the Bishop's Court, Lincoln [Ref: CP II p8]
The printed transcript of Alice Basset's will [Alfred Gibbons, _Early Lincoln
wills..._ (Lincoln, 1888), pp. 110-111], reads in part:
[dated] Thursday before Feast of St. Alphage, 1412.
Masses for my soul, and the souls of Sir Ralph Basset, Sir Robert Tochet,
and Sir Anketin Malores, my former husbands; of John Dryby and Anne his wife,
my late parents; and for all my ancestors & c.
My daughter Elizabeth, wife of Lord de Grey....
My daughter Margery, wife of Rob. Moton knight.
My daughter Beatrice, wife of Sir John Bagot knight.
My son William Maloree.
Elizabeth dau. of Sir Thos. Maloree knt.
[Ref: Paul Reed SGM 6/22/1999]
So Alice de Driby definitely had two sons and two daughters by her husband
Sir Anketil Malory. The daughter named Elizabeth attributed to the couple in
the 1619 visitation is probably an error for her daughter Elizabeth, daughter
by her husband Ralph Basset. [Ref: Paul Reed SGM 6/22/1999]
Hunt theorized (TAG 40:97) that Alice married a fourth time, to Sir William
Papworth. But he was here wrong again. Alice de Driby died in 1412. Alice,
the wife of Sir William Papworth, survived him (he died without issue on 4
September 1414) and died 7 July 1416. The remainder of his lands had been
granted to William son of Anketil Mallory and his heirs, so Elizabeth,
daughter of William Malore, aged twenty and more, was found to be heir on that
account [CIPM 20:165 (no. 524), 101 (no. 324)]. [Ref: Paul Reed SGM
