ClaysvillePA Recorder 2/26/1938:
The marriage of Miss Fredrica McDonald Moore, younger daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. F. W. Moore, of West Alexander, and Mr. James C. Bremer, of Charleston,
South Carolina, took place at old Covenant or First Presbyterian Church,
Washington City, D. C. at noon, Saturday, February 26, 1938. The home of the
bride is about as far west of the national capital as the home of the groom is
south of it. But there were features interwoven that made it quite a happy
event. The warmer fellowships there had such appeal that the bride chose it
as her church home. The pastor, Dr. McCartney, was leaving on a vacation trip
and introduced Dr. Carruthers, of Passedena, Calif., who was secured to fill
the post of pastor while he was on leave.
Tall vases of Easter lilies at either side of the altar lent tone to the
scene. The organist provided a program of music that included "Jesus the Very
Thought of Thee," "Oh Promise Me," "To a Wild Rose" and Lohengrin's "Wedding
March." The bride was attired in a very becomming toast colored traveling
suit and in the ceremony performed by Dr. Carruthers was given in marriage by
her cousin, Dr. William Workman, of the United States Department of Health. A
company of friends attended the marriage, including Mr. and Mrs. Reville Kirk,
the latter a daughter of Examiner Edward Grandison Smith, sitting in a notable
NLRB case; Dr. Eddie Kreiger, of Wilmington, Del., classmade in medicine of
the bride's brother, Dr. John Mark Moore.
Following the ceremony a reception was held in the pastor's study, where
dinner was served the group with a beautiful wedding cake as a feature. Mr.
and Mrs. Bremer left soon after to spend a week in New York City. The bride
was graduated from Triadelphia District High School and in law from West
Virginia University, admitted to the bar and associated with O'Brien &
O'Brien, law firm of Wheeling, before going to Washington City and taking a
position with the Coal Commission. Mr. Bremer received his education at
Charleston and was graduated in law from Georgetown University. He is
connected with the National Housing Administration. They have an apartment
ready furnished where they will reside in Washington City. Mr. and Mrs.
Bremer have the good wishes of the host of her good friends of this community.
