written by granddaughter Martha Margaret MOORE "Martha was a very remarkable woman. She was a very find soprano and sang as the leading soprano in church choirs as a girl and woman. However, in early middle life she lost her hearing and from that time on she was unable to sing. Members of this community who had traveled to hear Jennie Lind compared Martha Blayney very favorable with Miss Lind. Altho she lived most of her life unable to communicate with people except under great difficulty, she was a gracious, serene, christian woman. All of her grandchildren, manyh of whom spent the summers or part of them with her, remember her with deep respect and affection. Her influence on us was deep and very real."
