shut up in English convents by Edward I as soon as she was in his custody [Ref: John Carmi Parsons SGM 12/6/1998]

it used to be supposed that she was deliberately kept ignorant of her parentage, but a letter from her in her adulthood exists, complaining to the then-Chancellor of England that a pension assigned her by her kinsman Edward I was in arrears [Ref: John Carmi Parsons SGM 5/30/1999]
