1305: William obtained letters patent under the privy seal, giving him full powers to take back his wife, Lucy, and arrest those that had assister her; on 2 Nov 1305 William was excommunicated at Lucy's instance [Ref: Richardson RoyalAnc v5p158]

Apr 1307: Lucy and Nicholas were summoned to answer a charge of adultery; Lucy secured an acquittal by compurgation in Sep 1309 [Ref: Richardson RoyalAnc v5p158]

Just a proviso with the marriage between Lucy de Thweng and William Latimer and the birth of their son, William. Lucy was 5 months pregnant when she married William Latimer (Ist Lord) in August 1294, so William Latimer, 1st baron and putative grandfather had the child declared illegitimate and induced the king to grant him the lordship and forest of Danby for life. The paternity of the child was likely to have been that of her cousin Marmaduke Thweng, for a year later Lucy had left Latimer and was living with Marmaduke as his mistress. Latimer obtained a divorce and married Sybil de Fourneaux, by which time Lucy had left Marmaduke and was living with Stephen Meinell and had had a son by him. [Ref: Rosie Bevan SGM 7/31/2000-225659]
