author of 'Salacronica' which provides unique insights into the history of the borders in the early fourteenth century; written during his imprisonment in Edinburgh castle after he was captured by the Scots in a border skirmish in Oct 1355 [Ref: John Watson SGM 4/10/2016-060447]

7 Mar 1367/8: Papal mandate to the Bishop of Durham to dispense the marriage of Thomas and Margaret that had been contracted, and to declare their children legitimate, although John Lutre, whose marriage to Margaret had been annulled when she reached the age of consent, was related to Thomas in the 4th degree [Ref: CP IV p62(f)]
