usually said to have married a sister of King Robert Bruce, and his son, the famous Earl of Moray, is declared publicly in many charters to be the King's nephew, while Barbour plainly calls him son of the King's sister. But though the fact appears plain, the identity of the lady is a mystery [Ref: SP VI p290]

shown as two individuals, Sir Thomas (without identifying wife) d.aft 16 Jan 1292/3, Chamberelain of Scotland in 1269, Sheriff of Berwick in 1279, and his son Sir Thomas (who married Isabella of Carrick) Witness to homage of John Baliol 16 Jan 1292/3 [Ref: MacEwen JulianaReveley p45]

separate individuals because both were witnesses to record of homage by John de Baliol on 26 Dec 1292 (ref to Bain, Cal. Docs. Scotland II:155, no 660, cites Chapter House (Scots Documents), Box 95, no. 6; Liber A Chapter House, fol. 175b.) The existence of an 'additional' Thomas (as evidenced in the 1292 document) was noted some time ago by Andrew MacEwen. I noted this evidence in reading Bain, which Andrew subsequently confirmed in a telephone conversation. The credit for this correction of course goes to Andrew MacEwen [Ref: John Ravilious SGM 8/9/2008-204607]
