1201: made fine, together with grandfather William du Hommet, for possession of his lands in England and Normandy, promising not to marry without the King's consent [Ref: CP XII/2 p297]

1204: allowed to have his English lands if he gave 4 hostages to Crown representatives [Ref: CP XII/2 p297]

after 1204: lost his lands in France [Ref: Weis AR7 #184A]

1207: came into conflict with the King, being forced to choose between England and Normandy. His lands were seized in Mmar 1206/7, and he was ordered to leave the realm, but he seems to have been imprisoned in June following. [Ref: CP XII/2 p297]

1210: appears as witness of a charter; sometime must have been restored to royal favor [Ref: CP XII/2 p297]

He is said to have been killed by a cross-bow bolt at the siege of a catle in Gascony. On Jul 20 1213 his lands were in the King's hands; and the next day custody of his lands and heir was given to William Briwerre, who could control the marriage of his dau Isabel, Balwin's widow [Ref: CP XII/2 p297]
