Aug 7 1308: had a grant of free warren in his demesne lands in Barlby, the Holmes, Walham, and Knapton [Ref: CP I p324]

Jan 29 1310/1: found to be one of the heirs of Sir Roger Bertram, who d.abt 1272 [Ref: CP II p162]

1316-7: established his claim to the lands of William de VESCY [Ref: CP I p324]

On the death of William de VESCY at Kildare, a bastard without heir, it was found by inquisitions that Gilbert d'ATON, aged 26 and more, was heir of William de VESCY the elder (reputed father of said William) being son and heir of William, brother and heir of Gilbert, son and heir of William, son and heir of Margery (wife of Gilbert d'ATON who d 1235), dau and heir of Warin de VESCY (of Knapton) brother of Eustace, grandfather of the said William the elder [Ref: CP I p324(g)]

Nov 7 1317: did homage, and had livery of Langton and Wintringham, co York 12 Jan 1317/8 and of Malton 26 Nov 1318 [Ref: CP I p324]

1323-4: confirmed, for 700 marks, to Henry de Percy the grant which Anthony, Bishop of Durham, had made him of the castle of Alnwick [Ref: CP I p325]

Dec 30 1324: summoned to Council; also on 20 Feb 1324/5, and 25 Feb 1341/2 [Ref: CP I p325]
