Research Notes:
of Goxhill in Holderness [Ref: Keats-Rohan DD p420]
his family held land of the honour of Holderness (theholdings in 1086 of
Drogo de La Beuvriere and Erneis de Buron), at Goxhill in Holderness and
Goxhill in Lindsey (Lincolnshire) and elsewhere [Ref: Keats-Rohan DD p883]
heir of his brother Ralph [Ref: Keats-Rohan DD p883]
confirmed a grant of his brother to Bridlington priory [Ref: Keats-Rohan DD
p883]
Robert's family is often confused with the family holding of the honour of
Thoresway at Goxhill in Lindsey. While some relationship may have been
developed during the twelfth century - the families were close neighbors -
they must be carefully distinguished. EYC and Foulds were led badly astray by
K.Major, and are unreliable and have led to an impenetrable muddle [Ref:
Keats-Rohan DD p883]
