abt 1330: when aged 9 and 11, married Elizabeth More, afterwards mistress and at last first wife of Robert II. The marriage wa never consummated and they reclaimed against it. Case was remitted by Pope Clement VI to the bishop of St Andrews on 20 Mar 1345 for a declaration of nullity [Ref: MacEwen BoydTomb p58]

2 Dec 1345: at Barra, "Hugo Gyffard dominus de Yester filius et heres quondam domine Eufemie Gyffard Domine de Morhame et de baru" confirmed to Holyrood the grant made by his grandfather Thomas de Morhame and also the confirmation by his mother "Eufemie filie dicti domini Thome de Morhame filii et heredis domini Thome de Morhame patris uxoris et sponse domini quondam Johannis Gyffard et matris mee in sua pura et libera viduitate constituta" [Ref: MacEwen BoydTomb p57]
