Research Notes:
identity of her mother is still a matter of debate. There is no clear contemporary evidence that her mother was Joan, and a daughter of Llewelyn and Joan could not have been aged more than abut 9 in 1215. The only direct statements appear to come some centuries later. One strand of the later tradition does identify Gwladys's mother as Joan, but another says she was Llewelyn's mistress Tangwystl [Ref: CP++(proposed) Abergavenny 12/31/2006 (CP I p22)]

her identity as the legitimate daughter of Prince Llywelyn by his lawful wife Joan is proven by the passage of Knighton and Norton castles in Shropshire from llywelyn to Gwladus's husband, Ralph de Mortimer, which gift appears to have been part of Gwladus' maritagium.
