Research Notes:
At an early day seven brothers of the name of Miller came from Germany and
settled in the eastern part of the United States. Adam Miller Sr was a
descendant of one of these early settlers [Ref: GoodspeedBros ElkhartCoIN
p397]
23 Nov 1793: purchased from Adam Hartman (who received a patent for it on
13 Sep 1769) 139 acres of land in Jefferson Township, Greene County, PA
(History of the land is noted in deed when heirs sold the land in 1810) [Ref:
GreeneCoPA Deeds 2-624.5]
May 1796: agreed to sell to son Daniel 55 acres of his tract of land in
Jefferson Township. Agreement was signed and dated 17 Aug 1796, and recorded
in 1812 [Ref: GreeneCoPA Deeds 2-638.5]

Greene County Pennsylvania Deed 2-638 1/2, 17 Aug 1796
This agreement witnesseth that I, Abraham Miller of Washington County,
Cumberland township and State of Pensylvaina, have firmly sold unto Danill
Miller the said State, County, and township, fifty acres of land part of the
tract of the said Abraham Miller's for the consideration of twenty pounds
lawful money of the State of Pensylvaina to him his heirs administrators or
assigns. The same to be paid as follows:
Ten pounds the first day of May 1796, and the outher the first day of May
1797. And I, Danill Miller do bind myself my heirs administrators or assigns
well and tryly to pay according to the date above, the just payments as they
are stated.
And the said Abraham Miller his heirs or assigns shall on the recept of
the first payment make unto Danill Miller a legal Deed of Conveyance of the
said fifty acres of land free from all incumberances. And for the true
performance of this mutal Agreement we bind ourselves our heirs and assigns in
the just sum of one hundred pounds lawfull money of Pensylvania.
Wittness our hands and seals this seventeenth day of August one thousand
seven hundred and ninty six. Abraham Miller. Daniel Miller.

Be it remembered that on the twenty first day of April in the year of
our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twelve personally came into the Court
of Common Pleas in and for the County aforesaid, Andrew Wise and on his solemn
Affirmation says that he verily believes the signatures Robert Worster as a
Witness, and Abraham Miller as a party, to the within Articles of Agreement,
to be the respective hand writing of the said Robert Worster, and of Abraham
Miller (since deceased), and of which proof the said Court approves as
sufficient.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my and affixed the seal of the
said Court hereto the day and year first above written. John Boreman, Prothy.

Will of Abraham Miller, deceased
In the Name of God, Amen. I Abraham Miller of Greene County Cumberland
township and State of Pennsylvania being through the abundant mercy and
goodness of God, though weak in body yet of a sound and perfect understanding
and memory, do constitute this my last Will and Testament and desire it may be
received by all as such. Imprimis, I most humbly bequeath my Soul to Almighty
God my maker, Next I give my Body to the Earth from whence it was taken, as to
my Burial, I desire it may be decent at the discretion of my dear wife who I
doubt not will manage with all requisite prudence, as to my worldly estate I
will and positively order that all my just Debts be paid and my funeral
expences discharged. Item, I give and bequeath unto my dear wife Mary the use
of the little new House and potatoe garden behind said House and thirty
bushels of Wheat and fifteen bushels of Corn and thirty pounds of Sugar and
three hundred weight of fresh mean and the third part of the fruit, and half
an acre of flaxseed sowed, and all the above mentioned articles and
privilidges to be continued yearly as long as she remains my Widow. I also
give and bequeath all my moveable Estate unto my beloved wife Mary for her use
and to continue hers as long as she remains my Widow excepting that she must
sell as much of the moveable, will make up Seventy pounds a piece for my two
sons namely David and Joseph, said ___ has already received forty pounds
fifteen shillings, and Joseph is to have a certain Colt at three years old
which is expected to be worth twenty pounds and if thought not twenty pounds
it must be valued. Item I will and poitively order that none of the moveable
that I bequeath my dear Wife shall be appraised until her Mariage or Death and
its my desire that my Son Daniel should have my Plantation, which contains one
hundred and thirty four acres of Land and pay four pouds per acre which
amounts to five hundred and thirty six pounds, and it is my desire that when
my Sons Adam and Anthony come of age that my son Daniel shall pay out of the
price of the Plantation Seventy pounds to each as they come of age, and my
afflicted son Solomon not being capable of getting his living I leave to the
care of my Executors and his share of my Estate is to be equal with the rest
of my Children and he that decently maintains him until his death shall become
entitled to his share forever, it is my desire that my son Daniel shall both
winter and pasture on my Plantation for for his Mother the following Creatures
to wit, one horse Creature, two Cows, six sheep, one Hog, and all this he is
to do upon hi sown expence during the time she remains my Widow, and if she
maries again all the above mentioned articles and priviledges is to go out of
her hands and to be equally divided amongst my Children, it is my desire that
my son Joseph should learn a trade and if any other than a Joiner Trade he
must be bound when he is eighteen years of age, and if he learns the Joiner
Trade he may go to it when he likes, it is also my desire that my sons Adam
and Anthony be put to trades at eighteen years of age, it is my desire that my
three youngest sons may be learnt to read write and Cypher to the Rule of
three (?), and after my son Danidl has fulfilled and paid the above mentioned
Debts, he is to pay no more until his Mother's Mariage or Death and then my
Executors must equally divide the remainder and residue of my Estate amongst
my Children, it is my desire that if she should mary or die before my youngest
son comes of age that the Etate should not be divided until he comes of age,
it is also my desire my son Daniel may take possession of my Plantation
against the first day of March 17__, and Lastly I do hereby constitute
nominate ordain and appoint my Wife and my Son Daniel whole and Sole Executors
of this my last Will and Testament in Witness wharof I have set my hand and
seal this twenty first day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand seven
hundred and ninty eight.

to be his last Will and Testament in the presence of us, Levi Blackledge,

On the twenty fifth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand
seven hundred and ninety eight before me John Boreman Register for the probate
of Wills and granting Letters o Administration in and for said County
personally came Levi Blackledge and Edward Burson two of the subscribing
Witnesses within named and on their solemn affirmations did say that they were
present and saw and heard Abraham Miller the Testator within named, sign,
seal, publish, pronounce and declare the foregoing and annexed Instrument of
Writing as and for his last Will and Testament and that at the time of doing
thereof he was of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding to the
best of their knowledge observation and belief, and that tey also saw Abraham
Blackledge the other Witness subscribe his name thereto.

Affirmed and Subscribed the day above written before me, John Boreman,
Register.
Registered the 28th August 1798, and Letters Testamentary granted to Mary
Miller and DanielMiller Executors the same day.
