enormously wealthy for the times, being called "Golden Thomas" He paid
Henry VIII a large fine to be excused from accepting the Order of the Bath,
and in 1528 obtained a license from the King to remain covered in the royal
presence. This cost him a small fortune, but it must have given him a lot of
personal satisfaction [Ref: Hills CapeCod v2p78]
23 Henry 7: paid 7 pounds 10s5d in part of a fine for refusing knighthood

20 Henry 8 (1529): received the honor of knighthood for bravery at battle of
Spurs, Aug 16 1513. [Ref: Foster Yorkshire v2pt1 WENTWORTH, Holloway WENTWORTH

1528 obtained license from Henry VIII to wear his bonnet and be covered
in the royal presence because he was infirm. [Ref: Foster Yorkshire v2pt1

will dated Aug 21 1546, proved Mar 8 1548/9. Buried at Wentworth where
there is a brass to his memory. The monumental inscriptions of the
