Research Notes:
one of the most successful educators of his time, having founded the graded schools of Ashland, KY, in 1875, and later those in Bowling Breen, KY, in 1882. He was one of the most prominent masons in the state of Kentucky, and at the time of his death held a state office in that order [Ref: Eagleson BYERS p10b]
