c1098: death of Roger de Builli, Domesday lord of Tickhill, allowed Robert to gain control of Tickhill, but he was forced to surrender it when his lands were confiscated in 1102 [Ref: Sanders Baronies p147]

Orderic Vitalis states that Robert of Belesme was related to Roger de Builli (#174497) [Ref: Sanders Baronies p147(2)]

gave the task to Warin the Bold, sheriff of Shropshire, of annexing the district in which Oswestry was to stand from the Welsh; Warin was followed in his office by Rainald who d. c1102, who built Oswestry castle; Hugh, son of Warin, was sheriff for a short time but he d.s.p, and the office and many of the lands passed to Alan fitz Flaad [Ref: Sanders Baronies p70]

1102: exiled and attainted, whereby all his English honours and estates became forfeited to the Crown [Ref: CP I p233]
