Research Notes:
served in Civil War, rising to Captain [Ref: Miller AllenCoOH p842]

He was the elder of three brothers who served throughout the Civil War. He was a volunteer of 1861 and did not return home until 1865. He served first in Company E of the 81st Ohio Volunteer Infantry, and was with this regiment in Sherman's March to the Sea. He was Captain of Company E of the 192nd Regiment O.V.I. at the close of the war, and was under fire in the battles of Shiloh, Corinth, Resaca, Atlanta, and others. At Atlanta he was in command at a critical time, owing to the fall of a superior officer on the field. [Ref: Burkhardt BOUCHER p145]

Thomas is a devout leader in the M.E.Church and has for years been a power in the King's service both in the Church and Sunday School. [Ref: Burkhardt BOUCHER p145]
