There was a settlement of Sturgeons in Licking County, Ohio, which spread out into the adjacent counties. Their forebearers had come from Fayette Co, PA. The tradition of the Licking Co, OH, Sturgeons is that their ancestor, Robert STURGEON, settled at Centreville, Westmoreland Co., and that he was from Ireland. Centreville is now difficult to locate. It may have been Centreville, now in Armstrong County. Fayette County had been cut off from Westmoreland County in 1784. [Ref: McCoy STURGEON p133]
