abt 1143: Theobald, Archbishop of Canterbury, sent a letter commanding Robert Foliot, Walter de Wahille, and others to desist from their depredations upon the Abbey of Ramsey [Ref: Hansen Wodhull p7]

I report to you that my father and I had on the day and in the year King Henry lived and died 27 knights fees of old enfeoffment and 3 made up from my demesne. And of these knights' fees, Hugh de Lega holds 10 knights' fees; Simon son of Peter, half a knight; Simon malesources jr, 2 knights; Simon Malesourtes sr, 2 knights; Robert Butevileyn, 2 knights; Roger Foliot, 3 knights; Richard Gubion, 1 knight; William de Plumpton, half a knight; Stephen de Welton, 3 knights; Turgis the clerk of Pateshull, one-fifth a knight; Ernulf de Pateshull, one-fifth a knight; Baldwin son of Richard, one-fourth a knight; William Rispald, one-tenth a knight; Robert Cousin (Cognatus), half a knight; William de Calton, half a knight; Alan Caperun, one-fourth a knight; Ralph Fretecoke and his brother, one-third a knight; William de Patemere, one-fourth a knight; Hugh son of Reginald, 1 knight.
And from my demesne, to make up the total of 30 knights I owe to you, I owe to you the service of 3 knights. And from this demesne, I have enfeoffed since the death of King Henry a knight and a half, namely: William de Baretin (Parentin), William son of Baldwin, William de Peri, and Ralph son of Roger, half a knight; and Stephen de Scalers, 1 knight's fee.
