1196/7: Hubert Walter, Archbishop of Canterbury, paid 500 marks (333 pounds 6s8d) for his wardship and marriage [Ref: Hansen Wodhull p11]

1205: on death of the Archbishop, his wardship was transferred on payment of 300 marks to Aveline, wife of Geoffrey FitzPiers, Earl of Essex [Ref: Hansen Wodhull p11]
