Research Notes:
1853: at age 11, moved with parents to Tuscola Co, MI [Ref: WilsonPM WILSON p64]

1864: bought 120 acres of land just west of Unionville, on credit, with only a steer, calf, and an ax. The calf ran away. [Ref: WilsonPM WILSON p64]

1865: mustered into Company A of First Regiment, Michigan Volunteers; pursued Lee's army to Appomattox and was present at the 9 May 1865 surrender of the Army of Northern Virginia. Mustered out 9 Sul 1865, and suffered for one year from severe illness acquired while in the service [Ref: WilsonPM WILSON p64]
