Will Book 1-49, Mifflin Co, Pennsylvania
In the name of God Amen, the twenty-second day of September, in the year one
thousand seven hundred and ninety three, I Henry Collins of the township of
Derry and the county of Mifflin and state of Pennsylvania, being sick and weak
in body, but of perfect mind and memory Thanks be to God, Therefore calling
into mind the mortality of my Body and knowing that it is appointed for all
men once to die, do make and ordain this my last will and Testament that is to
say, principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hands
of Almighty God that gave it, and my body I recommend to the Earth, to be
buried in a decent Christian manner at discretion of my Executors nothing
doubting but at the general Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the
Mighty power of God and as touching such worldly Estate wherewith it has
pleased God to bless me with in this Life I first Devise and Dispose of in the
following manner and form, Viz,
I will that all my Debts be paid and Discharged and that my funeral be all
Discharged
Secondly I will and Bequeath unto my well beloved son Moses the sum of
twenty Shillings
Secondly I will and bequeath unto my two sons Viz Aron and Henry the sum of
ten pounds to Each of them
I further will that my three youngest children, viz Wright and Elija and
Elizabeth have one year schooling at the expence of my Estate
I further will that my three Eldest Daughters, viz Ann and Mary and Rachel
shall have each of them three Beds and bedding and all their wearing body
cloths.
I also will that the remainder of my Estate both real and Personal shall be
My well Beloved Wife's property and she to have the benefits of it as long as
she shall remain my widow and at her Death or her Marriage I will that my two
youngest Wright and Elija shall have out of the Estate ten pounds to each of
them and further I will that my youngest Daughter viz Elizabeth the sum of
four pounds out of my Estate at the Decease of my widow; and at the Death or
Marriage of my widow I will that all the remainder of my Estate be Equally
Divided amongst those my children Moses only Excepted,
and lastly, I constitute, Ordain and appoint my well Beloved wife Rachel and
my sons Aaron and Henry Executors to this my last will and Testament, and I do
hereby utterly Disallow Revoke and Disannul all and Every other former
Testament wills or legacies and bequesths to and Executors by me in any wise
before named willed and bequeathed ratifying and confirming this and no other
to be my last Will and testament. In witness where of I have here unto set my
hand and seal this day and year above written. Henry Collins
