Research Notes:
first settled on the old homestead, his father moving over to his new place on the Henniker Road [Ref: Hurd MerrimackCoNH p205]

after the death of first wife, he left the farm and engaged successfully in trade in Suffolk market for several years. He was in the large wholesale business with his brother, J.P. on Congress Street, Boston, but was burned out there in the great fire of 1872 [Ref: Hurd MerrimackCoNH p205]

afterwards business moved to John Street, under the name of Marshall & Blanchard [Ref: Hurd MerrimackCoNH p205]

retired to Bradford, New Hampshire; several times a member of the Board of Selectmen [Ref: Hurd MerrimackCoNH p205]
